Putting A Touch of Disney in Your Wedding

Ever since I was a little girl, I have dreamed of my wedding day, as I’m sure other little girls before me have. I dreamed that I was marrying the man I loved in a beautiful palace surrounded by my family and friends and wearing the most gorgeous gown. In all my fantasies, I always pictured myself as a princess marrying her prince and living happily ever after. In this past November, I had the opportunity to do just that when I married my true love, Cameron in Los Angeles and what a wonderful, happy day it was! When I was planning all of the details in the months before that special day, I knew that I needed to add a touch of me and what best describes me than my love of Disney?! And so, I would like to share how you can add a touch of Disney to your wedding!

Accessories

Most people when they think of Disney in a wedding, the first thing they think of is to wear the poofy, Cinderella ball gown as you dance the night away with your prince. While I love dancing with my honey, that type of dress was never really my style. So instead to keep that touch of Disney in my wedding clothes, I decided to wear my rhinestone Mickey Mouse-shaped earrings. They added another touch of sparkle as well as showcasing the love of my favorite mouse. Accessories are a great way to bring in just that touch of Disney without going overboard. Some other great Disney accessories could be a Mickey Mouse necklace or bracelet or even a cute minimalist Alex & Ani or Lillian & Co. bracelet with your favorite Disney saying that could add the extra splash of Disney that you are looking for. Be creative!

Also, if you wanted to include your bridesmaids in the Disney theme, get them a Disney-themed accessory to match yours! For my wedding, I gave a gold bar necklace to each of my bridesmaids that had their favorite princess’ name on them. It showcased not only their love of Disney but it was a great compliment to my earrings as well!

Flowers

I am the BIGGEST sucker for flowers so, of course for my own wedding that was one of my top priorities. You may be thinking how to do you put Disney into your wedding flowers? It can be as simple as joining your bouquet with your bridesmaids to make a cute Mickey Mouse shape for some pictures. You could even put a special Ellie Grape Soda pin from Up on your bouquet wrap for an extra dose of magic.

Cake Topper

To keep the theme of Disney going from your actual wedding ceremony, add a cute cake topper with a favorite Disney saying or Disney couple. For instance, I added a “Happily Ever After” topper to our cake that summed up not only the end of our wedding day but the beginning of our story together as a married couple. Some other variations could be “Best Day Ever” from Tangled or “Once Upon A Dream” from Sleeping Beauty. Through the online store Etsy (where I got my cake topper) any saying is possible and available!

Mickey Ears from Disney Parks

Getting married in Los Angeles meant that I was moments away from my favorite place on Earth, Disneyland. So naturally, when it came to figuring out a Bachelorette location for my bridesmaids and I, Disneyland was the one and only choice! For our day of fun and magic together, my little sister (who was my Maid of Honor) and my five Disney sisters decided it would be fun to wear matching ears and sashes that showcased our favorite princesses. I had an Sleeping Beauty crown on my Bride sash and wore a reversible blue and pink wire flower Mickey ears that resembled Aurora as well! My bridesmaids wore a sash with an symbol for their favorite princess and ears to compliment me too! It was such fun skipping through the parks together repping our favorite princesses!

While at Disneyland, I also spotted the Bride and Groom Mickey ear hats and knew that I HAD to get them! With our married names embroidered on the back, my husband and I wore them at our reception and took them to the beach for our morning photo session with our photographer to capture that special moment Mickey style!
