Kona Cafe Breakfast Review

Aloha! And welcome to this review of Kona Cafe at the Polynesian Resort. It is not often people travel to resorts for breakfast that isn’t their home resort, but man they are missing out on some fantastic options! This is a full-service restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. An ADR is highly recommended for this popular spot. It is located on the second floor of the main lobby, situated next to Ohana’s.

Now to the good stuff…

A friend and I decided to grab a reservation and head here for breakfast before a day at the Magic Kingdom. The weather had other plans though as a massive rain storm rolled in during our meal time. We both ordered the same entree–the infamous Tonga Toast! This is a massive piece of banana stuffed french toast. It is coated in cinnamon sugar and has a strawberry compote smothered all over it. Can that be any tastier? Nope. It comes with a side of ham, spam, bacon, or sausage.

I decided to try spam for the first (and last time). Not my thing! But the Tonga Toast was everything I never knew I needed! Now to be transparent… I asked for it without bananas, so I can’t tell you what true Tonga Toast tastes like, but my version was fantastic! It was sweet, not too dense and the strawberry sauce was a great complimentary flavor.

I also ordered the liliko’i juice, which is the fancy way for saying the typical orange, passion fruit, and guava juice served all over Disney. But this is the best juice you can get, so do yourself a favor and order it!

The Tonga Toast is priced at $15.00 for the plate and the liliko’i juice is $5.00. AP discount is available here as well! The next time you find yourself looking for a great breakfast option, do yourself a favor and stop at the Polynesian and visit Kona Cafe.

As a little girl, I went to Disneyland a few times, but my true love of Disney sparked my freshman year of college. I had the chance to do a quick weekend trip to Disneyland with two friends. During this trip, I fell completely back in love with the entirety of the Walt Disney Company. It was then a few months later, my family ventured to the opposite coast and visited WDW. Here I met a CP, who inspired me to start my own Disney Journey. A few years later, I can’t get enough of Disney (ask anyone who knows me)!

I have been extremely blessed to become a Disneyland AP holder, Walt Disney World AP holder, go on a Disney Cruise, and visit Hong Kong Disneyland. In 2018, I will be visiting Disneyland Paris. I plan on eventually visiting Tokyo Disneyland and Shanghai Disneyland.

I love all things Disney food, Disney merch, and Disney entertainment. You can usually find me in the park, drinking a coke and waiting for a show or parade. If you ever see me, be sure to say hello! I love making new Disney Friends.
