Why is it that “bad boys” are so intriguing and enticing? I think there is something inside most women, that wants to be responsible for changing a man with a colorful past, into a fine, chivalrous, gentleman. Flynn Rider is a perfect example of this!
When Rapunzel first met Eugene, he was a wanted thief. But there was something about his charisma and street smarts, that peaked Rapunzel’s—and all of our interest, into finding out more about the notorious Flynn Rider.
Although he was initially guarded, we later find out that he was an orphan as a child and that deep down, he is a big softy! And even though by the end of the movie, he starts embracing and showing his sensitive side, he still retains his sarcasm and sense of humor—which honestly makes him even more adorable! We love the combination of someone who is able to be vulnerable and fun/light-hearted, and Eugene is able to find that perfect balance.
Also, we can’t talk about Flynn, and not mention the lantern scene. THE WAY HE LOOKS AT RAPUNZEL GIVES US LIFE. His singing voice, his vulnerability, and his thoughtfulness, are more than swoon-worthy. And then, only a few scenes later, when he cuts Rapunzel’s hair, knowing that that meant he was sacrificing his life, for her freedom, proved that he had mended his ways and was no longer interested in his previous questionable pastimes. After he was revived, he emerged a changed man.
Between the smolder, the humor, and the heart, we realized that Flynn was a no-brainer to be this month’s male spotlight. After all, he has us all wanting to sing, “I’ve got a dream” to find someone like Eugene!
